Hi Friend
Starting January 1st, 2025, we’re going to see some price increases on astronomy and astrophotography gear. Here’s the deal: almost everything in this hobby—Celestron, Sky-Watcher, ZWO, Tele Vue, Baader, Lunt, you name it—is bought in U.S. dollars. For the last couple of years, prices in Canada have been calculated with the exchange rate set at $1.35 CAD per USD. But let me tell you, over the past year, that rate has crept up to $1.37 on average, and lately, it’s been hovering above $1.40.
That’s not exactly a fun trend.
Now, the good news is that the vendors and suppliers have held off on raising prices during the holiday season. I know it hasn’t been easy for them (or us). But come January 1st, prices will be adjusted to reflect an exchange rate of $1.39 CAD. That means we’re looking at a 3-5% increase on products we bring in from the U.S. or overseas. It’s not massive, but I know every dollar counts.
Here’s where I really want to help you: if there’s something you’ve had your eye on, now’s the time to act. We’re keeping current pricing on any orders or backorders placed before January 1st, 2025. So if there’s a backordered or special item you’ve been thinking about, let’s lock it in before this adjustment kicks in.
Reach out to myself or Anthony —we willl make sure you’re taken care of.
Best regards,
