Subject: Another telescope bizness bites the dust

Hello Friend,

One of the most frustrating things about being in the telescope business is the number of people
that get into it, thinking they can make a quick buck.

I've been in this business for over 30 years, and I've seen them come and go.

For example, we recently had a store open up just down the street from us.

First they were in the hobby business of selling plastic model kits, then they decided
to enter the telescope business, and then got out of that.

They weren't amateur astronomers, that's for sure, and had no real
personal interest in the hobby.

And what are they selling today?

Well, I saw a sign that said "we repair watches".

Seriously?  WTH?

I mean how do you go from selling model hobby kits,  selling telescopes, to repairing watches?

Mental confusion perhaps? Space time continuum perhaps?

Really, I dunno Friend.

And here is my point.

We are only in the business of selling telescopes, because  honestly
that is what we chose to specialize in.

So we could become experts in it and knowledgeable about what we sell.

You can't do that, if you are selling a whole bunch of other crap as well.

I don't want to sell silk scarves along with telescopes!  (Believe it or not, someone else is doing exactly that!).

Ok, maybe I'm wrong about that one. Maybe someone want's to wrap their telescope tube in a silk scarf
to keep it warm.....

Just sayin'. (Big sigh).

Clear Skies,

Ray Khan

PS We just got a shipment of these refurbished Meade 80mm computerized refractor telescopes at a bargain price!
