Subject: After 30 years in the telescope business, here is what I've learnt

Hello Friend,

Living on Manitoulin Island presents some logistical problems.

For example, while the nearest grocery store to me  Foodland, is about 10 minutes away, the next closest grocery store is 35 minutes away.
If you want an even better selection of groceries (and prices), it's well over 70 minutes away.

What this means is that, when we go grocery shopping it is usually to the local Foodland.

So what's the problem?

Much of the time, Foodland does not have many essential items in stock.   For example, I like basil in my omelets and trying to get that simple
staple on a regular basis requires multiple visits to the store during the week, because when they do finally get some in,  it's gone in no time.
(In the Summer, we actually grow Basil  in our garden).

Now, what's this got to do with the telescope business?

One thing: INVENTORY

This is why Khan Scope carries a huge inventory .

When a customer want's a telescope, eyepiece or accessory they want it now, not several weeks or
months from now.

Recently a customer told me that he had waited 6 months for another dealer to obtain a telescope for him
( an instrument we routinely carry in stock).

Another customer told me that they had placed an order with online dealer who's website stated the product
was in stock, yet three days later got an email saying that item was out of stock and would be three weeks before it got sent
out.

That's just plain crazy.

I want our customers to get their instruments and accessories as quickly as possible, so they can start observing or imaging right away.

So you can count on us to deliver immediately either from stock or within a very short period.

For example, the New CGEM II mount recently announced from Celestron: It's in stock!

Now a caveat: We do not have every single item in stock, all the time and we do run out of items; however, new stock
is always arriving.

In some instances, some manufacturers are back ordered on items and can't deliver in a timely fashion, and these are genuine
factors beyond our control.

Clear Skies,

Ray Khan

PS I have been in the telescope industry for over 37 years. Wow, I don't know where the time went to it all seemed
      to happen so quickly.
