You can never predict the actual intensity of a meteor shower till it's actually happening.

But what makes the meteor shower this weekend particularly unique is the fact that it is
a brand new one.

Comet 209P/LINEAR whose orbit was thrown off kilter, via a gravitational pull from Jupiter in 2012,
will be creating this new shower, and it's this upcoming weekend.

When and how to observe:

Saturday night (May 24th after midnite), and the peak times are usually between 2-4am.

Claims of 200 per hour, are just that. Claims, and like I said, no one can predict the intensity
of a meteor shower till it happens.

But if it does.....bingo!

A darker sky area is compulsory, if you wanna see a whole bunch of meteors, including the not
so bright ones.

Look up , as the meteors could appear anywhere in the sky.

In fact, the best way to observe a meteor shower, is to dress warmly, get a lawn chair out,
a warm drink in a thermos, a few snacks and lay back and take in the show.

And.....pray for clear skies.

PS  You don't need to use a telescope or even binoculars for this event. It's naked eye all the way.
