Subject: A fish that uses a telescope?
Hello Friend,
How many fish do you know that use a telescope?
Exactly.
Same here.
A few years ago, I was at the NEAF astronomy event, and Explore Scientific had a fishtank
set up, and in it, they had one of their new 100
waterproof eyepieces.
Was this a whole new market of amateur astronomers?
Fish amateur astronomers?
No, it turns out.
Explore was demonstrating that you could use the eyepieces in all kinds of weather conditions
and they would keep dirt and moisture out of the optics.
A big enemy of optics is moisture and dirt. When they get into your lenses the jig is up.
So that can be a useful feature.
Let me tell you about the time I carefully dismantled and eyepiece to clean it
because dust particles got in between the lenses.
Big mistake on my part.
I chipped the edge of the lens. And I was using the proper tools.
But the tool slipped.
And that was it. :(
My Meade Research Grade orthoscope 20mm was no more.
Every time I looked at that eyepiece, I felt the pain. Eventually, I just got rid of it.
A painful reminder of my mistake.
You may recall we ran a sale early in April for those of you who have wanted a deal on some of the waterproof Explore
