It's a relatively short window of opportunity to get a  view of this Comet, so take advantage of it while you can.
Â
Some pundits are claiming this is the best comet of 2023.  Well, since we are early into 2023, they must also be psychic or something.
Â
That aside, if you live in Canada it's going to be cold!
So, dress warmly so you don't give up finding it so quickly.
Â
Since it's visual magnitude is around 6, the best tool to spot it will be a pair of Binoculars ideally 10 x 50, or larger. Â Though, use whatever you have.
Even a smaller  quality telescope will work.
Â
If you miss it, it's going to be at least another 50,000 years before you can see it again.
Â
You've been warned. Â Don't count on reincarnation.
Â
Another slight problem is the moon. Â As I discovered last night, it's washing out the sky
so you will have to be somewhat more diligent in your searching.Â
Â
My recommendation is to drag yourself out of a nice, warm bed and observe the comet at moonset and sunrise.
Â
Rum or whisky in your coffee is optional. Â
Â
This is a small price to pay for being in this umm.. wonderful hobby my friends.
Â
How to find it:  This comet is circumpolar.  Or in other words, it's travelling in a bigÂ
10 degree circle around Polaris. Â Keep that in mind when you are out looking for it.
Â
Good Luck and great comet hunting!
Â
Clear Skies,
