June 30, 1908, Russian Empire - later known as the Tunguska Event, a fireball crossed the sky above Siberia, exploded, and flattened approximately 80 million trees near the Podkamennaya Tunguska River. Researchers in the 1950s and 1960s found microscopic silicate and magnetite spheres consistent with a meteor air burst. The area became a drop zone for Soviet rockets launched from Baikonur. In the 2000s, the Tunguska Space Phenomenon, a team of Russian ufologists, explored the area to search for remnants of a supposed alien spaceship, and they may have found pieces of these discarded rocket components.
