Here's what made me decide to stop climbing ladders...

I had been painting my house. It's a three story place and I was
using my trusty Little Giant ladder to get to some high parts. I
enjoy doing this kind of work myself. My lottery income means I
have plenty of time to myself and can spend it as I wish.

So getting a little exercise and sunshine - doing what I want -
is just fine.

But I got thinking about someone I know who fell off a ladder a
couple of days earlier. It was just a 3 meter (10 ft) fall, but

No driving, writing or table tennis for him.

two friends who have fallen from high places and permanently
damaged themselves - one with a broken back... the other still
has problems a decade later with his knee.

So I knew I was toying with danger every time I climbed that

a motorcycle out of 20 years of riding - and not much else.
