1889, out west in Colorado
As the sheriff of Cripple Creek, Trent Alderson’s job is to keep the townspeople safe. It’s a job that he loves and one that doesn’t usually require him to risk his life, given how peaceful Cripple Creek is. But recently, a spate of nearby bandit attacks in the wake of a terrible earthquake have much of Colorado on edge. Concerned, Trent reaches out to the sheriff of nearby Macon Valley to suggest a partnership in defending the two towns.
When Sheriff Veronica “Ronnie” Stinson shocks Trent by responding to his request, Trent is initially taken aback by the female law enforcement officer. Though he and Veronica start off on the wrong foot, it doesn’t take Trent wrong to realize the error of his ways.
Sparks quickly fly between the pair. Then it’s only a matter of convincing Veronica that sharing a life with Trent won’t require her to give up the career she loves. Persuading her is difficult…but no more so than fighting for their lives when the bandits finally descend
