This is a great start to a wonderful new series of Love on the Frontier. Here is a sample of book one.

Emily smiled as the young man in front of her handed her a small gift. It was wrapped in simple paper, tied together with a delicate ribbon.

“Mrs. Carlisle helped me wrap it up,” he said sheepishly as he watched Emily pull the end of the bow gently to unravel the gift.

“Oh, Sam, you didn’t have to get me anything,” Emily said, smiling as she turned the package in her hand. At last, the wrapping fell away and Emily was holding a small box in her hand. The velvet surface caused her heart to leap into her throat. “Is this ...” her voice trailed off as Sam reached forward and took the box from her hands. She looked up at him and was surprised to see that he looked exceptionally nervous.

Before she could ask him anything else, he dropped down to one knee and opened the box up to her, exposing a beautiful silver ring with a single solitary diamond shining brightly in the street light.

“Emily, I want nothing more than for you to be my wife. Will you do me the honor?” Sam asked her, his voice catching in his throat. He cleared it nervously, looking up at her with questioning eyes.

She looked at him with tears in her eyes. Everything in her heart wanted to say yes. She was in love with Sam and had been for the year since she had met him at the park with Sophia. He was handsome, always had a twinkle in his eye, and a teasing grin on his face. The moment she saw him, she felt the chemistry between them and knew that she wanted to marry him.

If only she could.

She reached down and put her hands around his and pulled him gently up to his feet. Confused, he stood up and looked deep into her eyes. “What’s the matter?” he asked, “Emily? What’s wrong?”

“Sam, you know I love you and I have loved you since we met at the park that beautiful afternoon,” Emily said, her eyes glistening with tears. “But there is something I haven’t told you.”
