Andrew Taylor is an alcoholic, tired and weary of his life but not wanting to do anything to change it until one night when a drunken game of farro ends up with him placing a bet larger than he had ever intended.

Elizabeth works as a maid, giving all the money she earns to her Aunt in the name of food and board. Her own hopes of life and happiness are lost somewhere along the way as time has passed now seeming almost impossible. When life suddenly presents her with an opportunity, she makes a hard decision and leaves everything behind.

Will Andrew be able to fulfill all of Elizabeth’s hopes and dreams or will his behavior finally extinguish the last remnants of the light burning inside her, making all of their sunrises full of regrets?
