It's a good thing Valentine's Day happens in the middle of February, because I don't think there'd be a whole lot of love going around if it weren't.
Winter is a time of contracting - our bodies are cold so we tend to bundle up, keep to ourselves and hunker down. Love, on the other hand, is an expansive force - warm, fiery, all encompassing. It can be hard to feel all warm and fuzzy inside when it's so darn cold out.
Since we're talking about love, did you know that a low libido is often the result of adrenal fatigue? It's easier than you think to deplete the energy your adrenals need to function properly - working too much, interrupted sleep and being constantly on the go - to name a few.
Read on to learn a few things that will move your love meter in the other direction and make this a holiday to remember.
Warmest wishes,

Food Focus: Beans
Beans, or legumes, including peas and lentils, are an excellent source of plant-based protein and are found in most traditional cultures as a staple food, offering grounding and strengthening properties that enhance endurance. They offer a highly usable, highly absorbable source of calcium for the body. A very inexpensive source of high nutrition, beans can be rich, delicious and satisfying,
Lack of sexual energy is often due to overtaxed adrenal glands and kidneys. Beans are known for strengthening these organs (ever noticed the shape of a bean?) and can help restore vital energy as well as sexual energy. Beans may be small, but they pack a powerful punch when it comes to health. They help restore vitality as well as boost sexual energy.
To avoid digestive upset, you can soak beans overnight, increase cooking time or add spices like oregano, cumin, or bay leaf when cooking.
Try my favorite Vegetarian Black Bean Chili recipe to spice things up!

Quiet the Mind ~ Stir the Soul |
|
Despite its 5,000 year history, meditation is still a mystery to most people. The most common complaint I hear is, "I can't stop thinking."
That's the challenge, isn't it?
To quiet a mind that's full of thoughts and ideas is not an easy task. But the rewards for trying are worth it - more energy, mental clarity, increased libido, better sleep - and so much more.
One of my favorite teachers, Dr. Herbert Benson, has spent the majority of his medical career studying the positive affects meditation has on health including reversing the aging process. His simple and easy to implement meditation called the Relaxation Response focuses the breath on one word to help quiet the mind and suggests a nonjudgmental approach if your mind does happen to wander.
If you're interested in a more in-depth, step by step approach to meditation, join me for my Journey to the Soul program that starts on February 24 (see my super saver offer below). We'll be learning the history of various meditative practices and how to incorporate it into our busy schedules. This is a virtual program offered through a private Facebook group that can be done from the comfort of your own home. Cozy. |
| Community Connections My good friend Kristen Ford Hernandez and her son Jaden have recently launched his new business venture ACTabilities.
It was Jaden's mission to share his message and hope that people with learning disabilities are not judged or treated differently.
"ACTabilities is a business where we make and package products that promote the message of Acceptance, Consideration and Tolerance."
Be sure to check their website often for some of the amazing products this group of talented young people will be offering. I hear organic soap will be available soon! |
