Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out ~ Robert Collier

Spring is such a great time to get yourself back on track. The sunshine gives us more energy to move (yup, I'm talking about exercise) and provides us with delicious fresh produce which makes it easier to eat healthy.

I'm sure you have lots of goals for what you want for your life and your health. But where do you start?

The one thing I know for sure, mostly because I've made this mistake many times myself, is that our list of goals should not be as long as our to-do list.

Here's a few tips for setting and keeping yourself on track:

  • Pick one or two things that you want to accomplish. I know what you're thinking. I can do more than that. That's really not the point. Maybe you can and maybe you can't. But if you overwhelm yourself with too much to do, you probably won't do anything. Keep it simple like drinking more water or eating breakfast every day.
  • If things get busy or tough, don't quit. If you miss your workout one day because of a scheduling issue, start again the next day. Or the next. Just keep going. It's not about perfection. It's about persistence.
  • Reward yourself. This is the one thing that often gets overlooked. I mean, why do something if it isn't going to make you happy at some point? Decide on milestones (ex: exercising three times a week) and then decide what you'll give yourself for accomplishing your goal. It doesn't have to be an expensive item. You could buy a book you've been wanting to read, go to a movie, get a massage or a manicure.
There's so many ways we can start our journey to wellness. And it all starts with a few small steps. Even something as easy as reading this newsletter.  I wish you much success!

Take care,

Kathleen
How to Get Rid of Mosquitos Naturally

You've probably seen all the bad news about mosquitos and the havoc they're wreaking on human health like the Zika virus and other diseases they're transmitting.

If you're a natural gal like me, you probably don't want to trade one bad thing for another. Which means anything that contains DEET is not happening for me. The health issues related to DEET are nearly as bad as the diseases it claims to prevent. Like the fact that it's a neurotoxin.

So what can we do? In our house, we mix up a spray bottle full of witch hazel, peppermint essential oil and geranium essential oil. The combination will provide an all natural barrier that will protect you and it will also protect your yard for up to 14 days. Make sure to spray under the foliage because that's where the little pests nest. Plus it won't run off if it rains. Summertime just got a little sweeter!
