Friend,
With the holiday hustle and bustle starting next week, I wanted to share some of my favorite tips to keep you energized throughout the holidays:

1) Sleep – Seems obvious I know. But most people don't actually get 8 to 10 hours a night (more than that on a regular basis may indicate another problem). According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, between the hours of 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM is best.

2) Exercise – Studies have shown that people with a sedentary lifestyle have increased energy when they start an exercise program. Do something you enjoy. Any movement will do. Dance, clean your house, rake leaves or go to a gym. The important thing is to do something you love so it won’t seem like a chore.

3) Eat well and often – Believe it or not, most people don’t eat enough. Or enough of the right foods to fuel their body. A diet rich in whole foods, healthy grains and appropriate amounts of protein increase energy. Avoid over caffeinating yourself. Also, don’t skip meals. Hunger puts a strain on the adrenals which can cause you to feel moody, anxious and/or exhausted.

4) De-stress – Massage, yoga, meditation and even sipping a cup of tea in a quiet setting can help change your perspective. You may think you don’t have the time, but all it takes is 10 minutes to recharge your batteries.

5) Re-evaluate – Find some time for play and get rid of the things in your life that drain you. Too much “stuff” can stress you out. So can watching the news. Try something different like coloring books for adults, listen to a motivational podcast or watch a funny YouTube video. One of my favorite funny ladies is Jeanne Robertson. She’s a hoot!

6) Be Thankful - Thinking of what you're grateful for shifts your perspective. It helps you feel lighter and appreciate all the blessings you have in your life.
