Subject: Preparation Day One

Topic: Becoming Aware of Yourself and Your Food

We’re going to take a wild guess that you aren’t in the process of taking time off from work or moving to a mountaintop in Switzerland to focus solely on getting to know your body and improve your health (although that would be a beautiful experience).

Instead, we’ll bet you’re a normal person, just like us, looking for a way to feel healthier than you do in this moment. You signed up for this program, which means you are ready for some change to take place, and we're so excited to support you every step of the way.

Many people desperately want to transform their lives, but often feel they aren’t able to take the necessary steps because they can’t seem to find the time or energy. Life can be so busy. But have no fears, this program is designed for people with busy lives, and it solves your questions about what and when to eat.

Making this program easy for you is our job. If you didn’t do so already, begin by filling out the Pre-Detox Questionnaire. Be honest and include as much detail as you can as this will help you see just how much you’ve learned when you finish this program.

It’s also important to begin paying attention to the foods that are currently in your life: in your kitchen, pantry, refrigerator, and even the snacks you keep at your desk.
  • Do they contain wheat?
  • Do they contain gluten?
  • Do you consume a lot of cheese and dairy?
  • Do you eat a lot of sugar?
  • Do you consume a lot of caffeine?
  • Do you eat a lot of foods that are white in color?

If so, this is the time to begin reducing some of these foods and giving your digestion a break so you can begin to ease into the program.

If you are huge coffee drinker, again, it’s time to start cutting back. Try to cut your coffee intake by ¼ cup per day. If you don’t think you can cut coffee out entirely during the program (although highly encouraged), allow yourself to drink one cup of organic coffee per day. To reduce headaches from caffeine withdrawal, try drinking green tea, yerba mate or a coffee substitute like Teeccino. Peppermint tea or lemon water with mint may work to alleviate any withdrawal symptoms as well.

Consider this preparation phase an opportunity to change your relationship with food. Food is fuel. Many of us eat when we are stressed or find ourselves eating on the go. Sadly, this is much too common in today’s world.

Now is a good time to review your Program Guide, and take a look at the exercises in your Success Kit. The sooner you begin working with all the pieces of the puzzle, the sooner you’ll begin to notice what works and what doesn’t in your life.

Today is a new day. Get support from your family and friends as you enter into this process.

Get clear today by writing down your intentions for your experience.

Here are some action steps I want you to take today:

  • Fill out your Pre-Detox Questionnaire if you have not done so already.
  • Answer your Power Questions (found in your Success Kit) and don’t be afraid to dig deep.
  • Review your Program Guide and some of the other materials so you can begin planning for your trip to the market or grocery store.
  • Take at least 5 minutes out of each day for you. You can even break these 5 minutes up into 1-minute segments. Even a one-minute break can be powerful. The goal is to de-stress your mind, which in turn de-stresses your body and grants you access to the power within you.
  • Begin journaling, keeping a food diary, and whatever other cleansing exercises you feel necessary to help you get the most out of this process.

You are here for a reason, so let’s make the best of it right from the start!

In health,

Kat & Carolyn
