Never apologize for trusting your intuition— your brain can play tricks, your heart can blind, but your gut is always right. ~ Rachel Wolchin |

If you haven't already, you're going to start hearing more about the importance of gut health and how it impacts your mental/emotional state.
According to Harvard Medical School Health Publications,
"The gastrointestinal tract is sensitive to emotion. Anger, anxiety, sadness, elation — all of these feelings (and others) can trigger symptoms in the gut. The brain has a direct effect on the stomach. ... Therefore, a person's stomach or intestinal distress can be the cause or the product of anxiety, stress, or depression."
The next time you have an upset stomach, are feeling queasy or nauseous, check in with yourself. See if there's something going on that's upsetting you. If there is, here are a few things to keep on hand to help restore your inner peace:
- DGL (deglycyrrhizinated licorice root extract)—This is one of my most favorite supplements. It's great for upset stomachs, leaky gut symptoms and protects the stomach lining and intestinal wall.
- Baking Soda—Everyone has this staple in their pantry. Mix one teaspoon in six to eight ounces of water. When combined with water, sodium bicarbonate eases upset stomach and pain. It also creates a more alkaline environment which our body loves.
- Ginger Root Tea—Make your own by adding a few slivers of fresh ginger to hot water with lemon or buy the tea bag version. Ginger is naturally soothing to the stomach, relieves indigestion and nausea.
- CBD Oil—A dietary supplement extracted from hemp plants, it has therapeutic properties, and is helpful in treating spasm and pain. CBD causes no high, and has an anti-anxiety effect.
Take care of your stomach. Gut health is the key to overall health!
With love and peace,
