Tips For Improving Digestion With Coconut
If you're having problems with your digestion, coconut will be your new best friend. You can add more coconut to the foods and drinks you consume, detox your body, and help with proper digestive health as well. This will make you feel much better and even give you more energy.
Start Replacing Regular Milk

Dairy is one of the leading causes of digestive issues, especially in people with a sensitivity or intolerance to dairy products, or who have conditions like leaky gut or irritable bowel syndrome. However, this doesn’t mean you can’t have any type of milk at all. A better alternative is to start replacing regular milk with coconut milk. Coconut milk is flavorful, has the same creamy consistency, and is simply a sweeter version of milk. It more closely resembles almond milk, so if you like vanilla almond milk, you'll probably enjoy coconut milk as well.

Stick to Bland Diets With Coconut

If you're suffering a lot from digestive problems, then you should use coconut in its different forms, but also eat a blander diet. Try boiled chicken, white rice made with a little bit of coconut oil, and some dry toast. When you have coffee, use coconut sugar and coconut milk.

Drink Coconut Water

Drinking more water is a great way to start improving your digestion and help your bowels move more regularly, but you can also do this with coconut. If you find that you don’t drink a lot of regular water, it can be really helpful to have coconut water on hand. This adds a little bit of flavor to your water, making it more enticing and you'll actually enjoy drinking the water. It's also good with replacing other drinks like juice and soda, since it feels like you're drinking a flavored beverage and not just water. It also contains electrolytes which help keep our bodies hydrated.

Use Coconut Palm Sugar

Whenever you're planning on adding sugar to something you eat or drink, whether you're adding sugar to your coffee or making baked goods, try substituting with coconut palm sugar (look for it at health food stores, amazon or the gourmet section of Home Goods). It's more nutritious for you and can be a lot easier on your stomach. A lot of people with digestive problems find that it's the sugar content in their foods that upsets their stomach. This is when the benefits of coconut really come in handy since you can satisfy your sweet craving with coconut palm sugar.

Use Coconut Oil to Cook

Coconut oil is ideal for cooking. It's solid at room temperature (melts at 76 degrees or higher).  You can use coconut oil in place of butter, shortening and oil in most (if not all) of your baking. Remember, coconut oil will solidify if added to cold ingredients (i.e., eggs and milk) so it’s best to make sure all ingredients in the recipe are at room temperature before you add the coconut oil. I even use it to coat the pan before making scrambled eggs!

I hope these tips were helpful. Try one or two of the suggestions above and test it out for a few weeks. I'm sure you'll notice a difference in your overall health!
