At first sight, science fiction and romance seem to be genres that are not compatible. For the most part they are, if you examine the demographics of the majority of readers in the two categories.
But that does not prevent individual writers from bringing the two genres together and doing incredibly well with it.
Sci-Fi Romance was one of the first niche market reports based on our "Virtual Besteller List" approach that we published back in 2016. In the meantime, the category has grown into a significant market.
Traditional publishers have left money on the table while indie authors have conquered the space (both figuratively and literally).
Both sci-fi and romance provide escapism to readers during these challenging times. So if you can imagine writing a story about intergalactic love, warring species, hunky alien heroes — blue, purple, and fiercely protective or possessive of their women — then look no further.
