Subject: My worst publishing industry prediction ever

Hi Friend,

I must admit that I have avoided studying this market ever since I started K-lytics.

When "Fifty Shades of Grey" took off, I thought it would be a short-lived phenomenon. "It is just a hype!"

That was definitely the worst publishing industry prediction I have ever made.

"Fifty Shades of Grey" sold more than 15 million copies by 2020, making it the best-selling book of the last decade.

It triggered many things: debates, a shock to some, media coverage, a blockbuster movie series, you name it.

But it also accomplished something else. It created one of the biggest and most sustained romance novel sub-markets: Billionaire Romance.

Today, Billionaire Romance comes in all "shades of grey" (pun intended), ranging from steamy erotic novels to cowboy romance to wholesome and inspirational romance.

The genre's counterpart in Paranormal Romance is probably vampire romance; vampires never die. Neither do billionaires (the artists formerly known as millionaires.)

Their longevity does not come as a surprise. It is not caused by billionaires' excess supply of money, private space flights, or designer drugs. No!

The billionaire romance genre simply fits perfectly into a particular Cinderella type of Hollywood mold — the romance between the rich guy and the ordinary girl — with roots that go back to the silent era.

For romance writers, it has grown into a vast market.

Therefore, we proudly present our first-ever Billionaire Romance market report.

Spend more time on your writing and save yourself countless hours of research:

Happy publishing!
