Hi Friend,
It is no secret that Amazon's Jeff Bezos (alongside literally every executive in the streaming space) wants to get his hands on the next Game of Thrones.
At first, it seemed that Amazon Video's Lord of the Rings spinoff was the platform's most likely contender.
However, Amazon has another epic high-fantasy adaptation in the pipeline: Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time series.
Netflix also continues to invest in various fantasy projects. The Witcher (albeit considered more low-to-mid fantasy by some) was watched by 76 million households, making it the most-watched first television season ever for the company. Right now, Season 2 is back in full production mode and will likely be released in the second half of this year.
On top, the need for escapism during these times may be another factor in favor of the fantasy genre.
So we decided to take a closer look as to what sells best these days. Here it is:
OUR FIRST-EVER EPIC FANTASY REPORT.
This new report examines market segments, sales development, top authors, top publishers, "Virtual Top 100" bestseller list, top categories, keywords, leading cover art, high-selling genre clichés, Kindle Unlimited vs. Non-KU performance, and more.
