| Hi,
Lead magnets, the bit you give away to get an optin, actually serve two purposes:
#1: your lead magnets are responsible for attracting people to you and getting them to join your list.
#2: your lead magnet's other big job is to convert these prospects into customers.
Your lead magnet not only builds trust, it should also provide a strong call to action for your paid offers.
In other words, you don't want to put some two-bit, rehashed product up as a lead magnet.
You want to dazzle your prospects.
You want to show them how damn good you are at solving their problems.
You want them to trust you.
A good lead magnet can help you do all of these things and more!
So take a look at the ideas below for optimizing your lead magnet...
*closes@midnight* Tip #1. Create ultra-targeted lead magnets.
You ever wonder how some marketers get those crazy lead page conversion rates over 50%?
Sure, they have great copy and a great lead-magnet.
But the other secret a lot of people don't know is that these marketers are putting ultra-targeted lead magnets in front of their prospects.
You see, a lot of marketers put a "one size fits all" lead magnet in front of ALL their visitors.
But that works about as well as trying to keep sand out of your shorts at the beach.
So what's the solution?
Set up links and exit pages on your site with lead magnets that are carefully targeted to whatever your prospects are looking at right that moment.
So for example...
If your visitors are looking at a blog post about bedazzling their track suits, then give them a lead magnet on the same topic. (That's called a content upgrade.)
If they're looking at a sales page for frog-leg recipes, then put up an exit offer on the exact same topic.
Seems like extra work to create a lot of different lead magnets, right?
Well, consider this - if you do it, then you too could be enjoying a conversion rate rocketing over 50%.
Bonus benefit: Creating multiple lead magnets naturally segments your list, which is great way to boost your conversion rates.
Secondly, creating multiple lead magnets may not be as hard as you think. Take a look at this next tip...
Tip #2. Splinter your products.
Do you sell ebooks or videos?
You want a fast way to create a lead magnet?
Then all you have to do is splinter your paid product.
That means take an excerpt out and offer this excerpt as your lead magnet.
Pull out one chapter out of an ebook.
Splinter off one module from a video series.
Best of all?
This strategy lets prospects directly sample your paid products, which really boosts conversion rates.
And now one last tip...
Tip #3. Make prospects opt-in before you deliver the product. When you're offering a lead magnet in exchange for an email address, make sure your subscriber has completed the subscription process before you hand over the lead magnet.
This becomes particularly important if you use a confirmed opt-in process.
A good way to make sure the subscriber confirms their email is to deliver the lead magnet in the thank-you email.
Whatever you do, don't post it on the web page directly behind the registration form, otherwise people will grab the lead magnet without confirming their subscription.
Delivering it in an email not only ensures they've completed the subscription process, but it also trains them to start opening your emails.
And that's pretty important...
