Subject: Easing your "blahs"

Hi Friend,

My good friend let out a sigh on the phone.  The sigh was mixed with a disgruntled quiet sound…

“Blah”

She’d been facing a tough situation for weeks and it had been my honor to listen with compassion and support her any way I could.

I know her very well and in that moment I sensed an opportunity to ease her stress by making her laugh.  So, I mimicked the “blah” sound back to her, only with much more volume.  She started laughing and more laughter ensued as we traded “blah” greetings back and forth…

“How are you?  Blah!”
“What’s new?  Blah!”
“How’s your day been? Blah!”

And so on!

It might be one of those experiences where you had to be there to catch the laughs, but it cracked us both up!  We enjoyed some much needed LOL-ing.

We could all use frequent LOL-ing to get us through the ongoing blahs.

The last few years have been filled with situations that have been BLAH in the extreme.  I recently read an article that talked about the cumulative stress of facing one crisis after another in the world, month after month, year after year.

These situations are very serious (often heartbreaking) and certainly don’t make you want to laugh.  However, even if you can’t laugh directly at the situation, allowing more laughter into your life can help you to get through it all.

We all need regular laughter respites to find relief from the emotional barrage of our topsy turvy world.  Just one good laugh can make a huge difference!

I invite you to be on the lookout for opportunities to laugh today, and every day.

Happy LOL-ing,
Kim
