Subject: A Bit About a Hidden World

Dear Friend

I’ve been asked for more info about my background, so I created a short page just about this…

Living childhood through an actual communist regime can seem to many, like such an unlikely time period – like some quaint piece of period drama, from a time long, long ago.

But this was of course, during the time that Spielberg and Lucas for instance, made their best and most iconic movies. It was the time of Madonna, Prince and Michael Jackson, of AC/DC, Bon Jovi, and Queen.

Late-stage communism was a parallel universe, happening at the exact same time. But few bothered to see what happens there, in part because the movies and music that came out at that time, were so much more fun and engrossing.

The “commie world” was just so darn, dull, dreary, and depressing.

Today though, many don’t even realize that it was depressing. Some even think of it in quasi-romantic terms.

After all, the romance of a world where everyone is equal, is poetically beautiful isn’t it? Why tarnish this vision, with “facts” and “reality”? Better to let John Lennon sing on piano, Imagine. Aaah…

But like a wise man once observed, “those who cannot remember the past, they are condemned to repeat it”.

Are we today following in the same footsteps that we ought to never forget?

Are we about to repeat the grave errors of 20th century once more?

Here’s my lived experience of it…

Carpe Diem,

John
