Trick or treat...

Have you heard of Kobo Plus?

What is Kobo Plus?

Kobo Plus is Kobo's equivalent to Kindle Unlimited. You pay a monthly subscription to get access to a library of books, which you can borrow, read, and return.

How is it different from Kindle Unlimited?

  1. Kindle Unlimited is $11.99 a month. Kobo plus is only $9.99. Both of those subscriptions give access to ebooks and audiobooks, but Kobo Plus also offers an ebook only or audiobook only subscription for $7.99.

  2. Kindle Unlimited limits you to 20 books to borrow at a time. There is no limit in Kobo Plus.

  3. Amazon forces authors to remove their books from all other retailers in order to participate in Kindle Unlimited. Kobo Plus allows authors to make their books available anywhere they wish while still participating in the Kobo Plus program.

How do I read books with a Kobo Plus subscription?

You simply download the Kobo Plus app on your phone or ereader (yes, you can even download it on your Kindle).

Tempted?

Kobo offers a free trial, and if you're a fan of romance, then there's a huge sale happening right now that you won't want to miss. Go ahead and take a peek!

Our latest trip to the range had a steampunk theme...

Picture of me at the shooting range aiming the gun and wearing brown leather pants and a steampunk-style corset.
Picture of target showing a direct hit in the center of the zombie's throat.

Jim says I look like an urban fantasy protagonist.

Zombie's hand target with well-grouped shots.

My first time shooting a Sig P210!

This was my return to the .22 Colt Woodsman

Yet another target with well-grouped shots.

This was the Sig P210 again, but this time I shot from 10 yards instead of 15 ft.

Patreon: Good Idea/Bad Idea - Results!

Pie chart showing that 44.7% of readers said they'd consider supporting a patreon, 27.6% said yes, and 27.6% said no.

At this time, I don't think I have quite enough interest in the Patreon idea to go ahead at this time. However, enough of you expressed interest that I'll probably survey again next year, and in the meantime I'd love for you to send me ideas for what you'd like to see. A lot of you liked the idea of a "What if?" short story, so if there's anything specific you'd like to see, respond to this newsletter and let me know :)

A few notes about the Patreon idea:

  1. I had a few people who were very upset by the question. I want to make it clear that my intention was never to demand that people on a fixed income pay more money. I want everyone who wants to read my books to be able to read them, which is why I offer my books through libraries (and if your library doesn't have them, you can request them, and most libraries will be happy to order them) and through Kobo Plus, as explained above. I also run sales as often as I can (and I will be running another Black Friday sale next month!).

  2. Someone mentioned that they never got their free book on sign up. This is just a reminder that you should have received a link to the VIP section in one of the welcome emails and all the free and bonus content I provide gets put in that section for you to download at your leisure.

The new series is underway!

Remember when I said Andy was getting his own spin-off series? Well, he is. And I've already started writing it.

You can keep track of its progress, along with my progress on the next Blood Trails book, by checking the progress bars on my website: https://www.jenniferblackstream.com/

Are you all caught up?

Cover art for the entire Blood Trails series 1-14, including Snapdragon, a bonus holiday short story.

You'll be getting another email from me on Halloween (because it's witch-night), so keep an eye out for it! There will be more goodies coming...
