Hi Friend
March is a special month for me for many reasons, but the best is that on St. Patrick's Day the adoption of my son became legal. It's the day were had to go to the courthouse and stand in front of a judge and be told the awesome responsibilities were were taking on. He'd already been living with us for nine months, but it took a while for social workers to visit and fill out their reports, for all the paperwork to get done, and to get a court date. It was just a formality, but I remember driving home and thinking that we were finally done with all the outside intrusions and could enjoy being a family.
When he was little, on St. Patrick's Day we'd celebrate "adoption day" and it was like a second birthday or an anniversary. It was fun.
One of the reasons I write books about family and relationships is because the relationships we have with others is the most important part of life in my opinion. The ties we have with other people make life worthwhile. For some it may be family for others it may be friends.
I'm currently about 40 pages into my next novel loosely based on my parent's immigration story. Spending time talking to my mom about her early days in this country and reading letters that my dad and grandpa wrote to each other makes this future book extra special. It's going to be a different type of relationship book, but it's still about family and dreams of the future.
If you'd like to see how it develops, follow me on my Facebook Page.
This Is Now, my previous novel about the love between a mother and a daughter, is still available for purchase at: Amazon Barnes & Noble Or your favorite online bookstore
I hope you have a great March and enjoy the warmer weather. I know in many places of the country we still have weeks of cold and snow, but hopefully you'll have some thawing and more sunshine too. |
