Subject: Book Covers and a lot of Reading

For Readers

Hi Friend,

Working on my Book Cover Design

You last received news from me a few weeks ago because I've been working tirelessly on the last edits of my novel and getting the book cover designed.

I have to admit that coming up with a concept for the book cover has been tough. I've spent hours looking through images on picture photo sites, book covers on Amazon and thinking about what would appeal most to readers, and I could not find anything I liked. Nothing sparked my imagination.

Finally, last weekend, my cover designer and I came up with something that would work. Crossing my fingers that the cover is right and you and all my readers like it. I'll be ready to share it by late April or May.

Time for Reading

You probably remember Harlequin's NEXT series if you are a romance reader. They were stories about women who were usually in their 40s, and the idea was to explore what happened next after a divorce, the death of a spouse, children growing up and leaving home, etc. They were good books, I thought. But the series didn't last long.

Anyhow, I have quite a few of those books, and I'm reading some of them finally. The cold, wet, and snowy weather all over the country, even in California, has made it ideal for spending time inside reading.

What did you read last month, and what is on your reading list for this month?

I want to suggest a couple of my oldies. If you have yet to read Evenings at the Argentine Club or Say You'll Be Mine, you will love them both.

Say You'll Be Mine is about a businesswoman, Isabel unexpectedly becomes the mother of three children when her cousin dies. The problem intensifies because the children live in Argentina, and their uncle wants custody.

Evenings at the Argentine Club is a complex story with multiple characters who are part of an Argentine Club in California. It's about falling and staying in love and about finding success in America. In some ways, this is a good preview of the novel I will be releasing this year since it explores some of the same concepts.

The Future You

Another book I recently read was Be Your Future Self Now, and I loved it.

The book starts with a story about Mr. Beast whom I have never heard of, but apparently, he’s a YouTuber who is very popular for creating weird stunts. The interesting part of this story is that Mr. Beast creates videos intended for his future self, seemingly focusing on how many followers he wants to have. He talks to himself, sharing his expectations and his hopes. He schedules these short videos to be released, six months, one year, three years, and ten years into the future.

When they arrive, he sees that he outperforms his estimates of how many followers he will have, and his dreams of how successful he will be many times over.

I liked this book because it inspired me to think of the future writer I want to be and create that person now.

I discuss this deeper in this Medium article and in the video that I posted below. By the way, this is helpful to writers and readers alike.
