Dear patients and friends,
I hope you're enjoying the early fall weather- I had a good dose dose of summer and am ready. I'm also celebrating completion of 18 months or treatment for my prostate cancer which is at the moment nowhere to be seen. Being an optimist I'm pushing hard to gain back the strength, muscle mass and endurance I lost during the treatments, and have started a likely 12-18 month push to arrive at my goals. Wanna join me?
No matter your age, most of you can also improve your day to day function and energy, while reducing markers of inflammation and poor metabolic health. I've changed my office schedule to allow more morning workouts, dramatically reduced carbs and increased protein, and got baseline DEXA body composition studies and V02 max studies for before and after comparison. Many of YOU- whether extremely healthy and dedicated to prolonging health and lifespan, or dealing in the best possible way with a chronic illness, have been tremendous role models and inspirations to me. Thank you!
At 65 you have me in "extra innings" already, though I told many of you my dad, who retired at 67 with prostate cancer and died recently at 91, regretted terribly his decision to give up being a pathologist, in a large hospital in Tampa. He loved pathology and felt he was making tremendous contributions still in his late 60's. Lesson learned! |
