In the 1970's Steve Wozniak designed engineering calculators for Hewlett-Packard. He created a PC that he promoted to HP.

Mr. Wozniak tried 5 times to get HP executives to manufacture his PC. They were not interested.

Mr. Wozniak left HP to a company called Apple with his buddy, Steve Jobs. His PC became Apple 1 computer.

Hewlett-Packard "missed the boat".

missed the boast = Fail to take advantage of an opportunity.
