It's Sunday already Friend? 💟
Where did the week go?
One of the things I enjoy more than anything is getting to know new people.
Taking the time to know someone and explore how the acquaintance might turn into more is such an exciting adventure. Sometimes a new acquaintance remains just that but other times, it can blossom into a beautiful friendship.
Determining which it will be requires your willingness to get to know the person, the patience to allow that knowing to unfold and the resolve to make your own decisions rather than listen to someone else's opinion.
Click HERE for today's Reflection titled I choose my own friends regardless of the opinions of others.
Have you ever had someone talk highly of someone to you only to finally meet them and come away with a completely different opinion? Or the opposite can also be true; they're not fond of someone you might find incredibly interesting or entertaining.
We each have our own filters and therefore respond individually to life, situation and people. You may find the characteristics of a person refreshing, delightful while someone else may feel the opposite. There are so many factors that lead to your opinion of a person; it's actually a complex process of beliefs, memories, associations and desires. Where one person may be intolerable of someone or something, you may be indifferent to it or actually like it. Our opinions are as different as we are - never draw conclusions based on someone's opinion because you may just be missing out on a potential new friend.
Friends come in all shapes, colors, faith and ethnicity and the more we open up to that diversity the more our life is enriched.
Never let the opinion of another get in the way of you forging a friendship with someone new.
