Hi Friend,
Last week I attended and spoke at the MAPS conference in Louisville, Kentucky and it was great to see so many people focusing on spare parts management. As I am sure you can imagine I have attended a lot of conferences over the years, all over the world, and never have I see anything like MAPS.
Yes, there are conferences that dabble with spare parts management (usually maintenance and reliability conferences) and there are 'after market' conferences that deal with OEMs and distribution. Sometimes supply chain conferences include one or two spare parts related presentations. But MAPS dealt exclusively with spare parts used for maintenance and operational support. Every session, every speaker, every attendee, focussed on this vital resource. Fantastic!
This was the first MAPS conference and I have no doubt that this will become THE conference for anyone involved in spare parts management.
Recently at SparePartsKnowHow.com we also posted a major new white paper on spare parts obsolescence - see below for details.
