A Practical Guide to the Selection and Application of Industrial Vending Machines
Issue #200

Hi Friend,

Do you utilize vending machines for control of your spare parts or PPE?

I find it curious that, despite the widespread application of vending machines in society, they are yet to truly make their mark in MRO and spare parts applications.

Yes, industrial vending has been around for quite a few years, and some suppliers of this equipment reportedly have tens of thousands of machines at client premises. However, despite this, I believe that industrial vending is yet to reach its full potential. Eventually, industrial vending machines will be as ubiquitous as computers, software, and printers.

This is the 200th edition of our newsletter and to mark that event we are launching the first of a series of ‘special reports’. Today's report is titled:

A Practical Guide to the Selection and Application of Industrial Vending Machines.

The purpose of this report is to provide guidance to those who may be considering the application of industrial vending machines in their work place. As with most things, this decision is not quite as simple and straight forward as many suppliers will have you think.

The report is available in a new section at SparePartsKnowHow.com, ‘Special Reports & Books’. Currently we include my books and this special report but over time we will expand on this – we will let you know as we do.

How to Sell Your Obsolete and Excess Spare Parts on eBay
One of the major issues faced by almost everyone that manages spare parts is: what to do with obsolete and excess spare parts inventory? One option is to sell the items for essentially scrap value but this rarely raises more than 5c on the dollar.

Recently I met Brian Burns, a US steel industry veteran, who has worked out how to achieve returns of 25-40c on the dollar by selling obsolete and excess spare parts on eBay and the open market. This article is a transcript of a recent interview.
