Lower rating:
• lower voltage
• less speed
Higher rating:
• higher voltage
• more speed
'1S' refers to the number of cells in the LiPo battery (one cell, in this case), each cell being 3.7V, up to 22.2V total voltage in 6S. The number must be within the range your ESC can handle, as in, 'Voltage Input: 2S LiPo'.
1S will have less acceleration and speed than a 2S. It will accelerate more slowly and achieve a lower top speed. The more cells you add, the more top speed and faster acceleration you get, assuming everything is equal.
