Ask Dr. Anna S3. E45

The Buddhist philosophy has the power to integrate both an awareness of the difficulties in traumas and challenges of life in the statement, "All life is suffering... and the possibility of living with our highest purpose and intention in mind."
When we integrate the belief that "all life is suffering" and that the purpose of living is to operate "with our highest purpose and intention in mind", it allows for a freeing up of notions of unfairness or an expectation that we should not have to face whatever we are struggling and instead, realigns our focus on raising our intentions for a higher purpose and meaning in life as part of the larger human community.

The 14th Dalai Lama gives us this beautiful reflection piece that can be used on awakening everyday...
TODAY
  • I am fortunate to have woken up.
  • I am alive
  • I have a previous human life.
  • I am not going to waste it.
  • I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others, to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings.
  • I am going to have kind thoughts towards others.
  • I am not going to get angry or think badly about others.
  • I am going to benefit others as much as I can.
- 14TH DALAI LAMA

The challenge is to use this as a practice and to recognize we get better as we set an intention and bring our awareness to the challenge.
