Subject: Friend, Give the Gift of Trauma Recovery #Help1in5

Dear Friend,
As the holiday season approaches many of us will be preparing for time with family and friends. It is a time of warmth and reflection on the year that was, and a time for communities to come together.

However for 1 in 5 Canadians, it may be a year that we struggled, felt isolated and disconnected due to trauma or mental health issues. For many of us, we may have witnessed the struggle of someone close to us, a family member, friend, or colleague.

1 in 5 of us grapple in silence and alone.

During this holiday season there will be 1 in 5 of us who need a hand finding a safe place to land. At Trauma Practice for Healthy Communities we are proud to launch #Help1in5 - because the path to healing is the gift of recovery.

Trauma Practice for Healthy Communities is here to help. We provide practical support right where it counts, in our communities with group support, resources and self-care tools. Our team has seen that exposure to and the impact from trauma on individuals, groups and communities is more common than realized.

In one Canadian study 76.1% reported being exposed to at least one significant traumatic in their life-time that was sufficient to cause PTSD.

We do know that individuals can recover when given the right care. At Trauma Practice for Healthy Communities, we know that with your support our programs are making a difference.

One group participant, “NL”, shared her experience in the Recovery & Resiliency support program. She said
"I've felt very alone my whole life. The trauma and the way it has made me feel has been so isolating. This group is full of people who get it, who validate me, and who are safe. I feel like I've found a group of people that I connect to and who motivate me to recover.”

Thanks to you, your support enables us to reach more people, while we help them move toward recovery, find calm, manage stress, reduce stigma and become part of the community. Our programs help community members gain access to care and decrease isolation after trauma.

With your help, we are building supportive networks dedicated to healing.

This year give the gift of healing and #Help1in5 with a gift to Trauma Practice for Healthy Communities and help us reach our goal of $15,000.00 in 2018. For just $15 a month you can help someone on their journey to recovery.
