Thanks for joining us on week 5 of 10 week Find Calm journey. In week 5, I encourage you to recognize the difference between "Feeling Safe and Being Safe". Sometimes, we are so ignited and destabilized that everything feels unsafe and we walk around in a terrible storm of distress. Well, I am asking you to challenge yourself today by shifting out of habitual feelings of being unsafe (when you are actually physically safe).
The new language to use once you have confirmed actual physical safety is "In this Moment, I am Safe!"
Focusing on the moment (i.e., what I see, hear, think, feel, sense, smell, etc) to confirm whether there is actual danger and then using this information to guide our inner response can help us from using our energy on old wounds and battles when there is no one and nothing to fight.
The challenge for the next 7 days is to truly notice and challenge times when our nervous system ignites into a full on "fight or flight" response when in fact we are actually safe. Let's conserve our energy so we can focus on recovery after trauma. Try this one out for the next 7 days with us.
Take the time to use the new statement "In this Moment, I am Safe!" for the whole week.
Of course, if there is real danger, do whatever you need to do to get to safety. But if no danger exists, use this time as an opportunity to practice this exercise. Let's practice together. Please stay focused on your recovery and practice everyday.
Wishing you a gentle day. Dr Anna Baranowsky
