Find Meaning in Life and Move Forward after Trauma

Finding meaning in life after trauma is a key to moving forward rather than feeling fully stuck in a terrible past. Dr. Victor Frankl the author of the hugely influential "Man's Search for Meaning" wrote about his experiences as a Holocaust survivor and a mental health professional. He recognized that those who did the best after terrible events were able to adapt to the circumstances and find meaning in life.

Among many people I have known through the years I was most impressed by a man who attended a training with me. He had experienced the devastating loss of a child and then went on to dedicate his life to helping others. He was courageous and inspirational in his mandate to help others after trauma. It became quite clear that his passion for helping trauma survivors was also helping him make meaning in his life and adapt to his loss.
