Holiday stress can whip us into a tense frenzy, sucking all the joy out of life! Have you experienced this? Did you argue with family/friends or find yourself isolated, over-pleasing or underwhelmed?
We will be joined by Dr. John King author of #dealwithit, speaker and PTSD expert, who has a tremendous wealth of experience in dealing with significant family disturbances and will bring his understanding to the Holiday Stress in Review conversation. For information about Dr. King visit https://www.drjohnaking.com/
Yesterday, I had a lovely, honest and sweet conversation with a woman who admitted that she will be alone over the holidays and this is not what she had wanted or expected. Unfortunately, as a result of circumstances outside of her control, she has found herself pretty isolated in life and feeling the pinch of loneliness and a sense of deep grief and sadness. She is also comparing herself to others who seem to be invited to parties, surrounded by family, friends and loads of "fun" things to do.
Another man shared that he was wondering how he will get through another holiday season, visiting his family of origin in a small town 100's of miles from his current home town. He feels certain that his Dad will say something mean, his sister will bait him into petty arguments and Mom will stand by and tell him that he has to "do the right thing" (or in other words just put up with the bad behavior).
Well with the holidays looming, we have a great show for December 27, 2018 (A HOLIDAY IN REVIEW). We can chat about what went wrong/what went well, how we want to rebuild now that the holidays are over. I also want to hear from you about what you have learned this year about yourself over the past year, over the holidays and what you would like to learn in the new year!
We would love to hear from you, so call or email and let's talk about it.

More about our guest Dr. John King
Dr. John A. King is an author, poet, long-time activist and founder of the Give Them a Voice Foundation in Grapevine, Texas, which he launched in 2015 to provide advocacy, support, resources and rescue for those who have been sexually abused or trafficked.
In 2008, in the midst of a successful career in corporate coaching, leadership training and speaking all over the world, King experienced a complete recall of suppressed memories from more than a decade of sexual abuse and exploitation by his parents and their friends. Determined not to be seen as simply a victim, he put himself through re-learning the leadership principles he had taught to others for years.
A dynamic speaker, King uses his personal experience to connect with the many people who have suffered abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder and exploitation recovery. He recently wrote a book, #DealWithIt to share his personal story of recovery from sexual abuse and PTSD. |
