Bots aren’t intelligence. They’re programs. Remember that your audience is talking to a robot and not a human being. The response given by the bot depends on specific keywords identified in the user’s input, so, the programmer, or you, must anticipate all potential user inputs. Some bots lack transparency. Users can’t tell they’re talking to a robot. Although chatbots strive to make the conversation as comprehensive and as human-like as possible, your customers should know that it’s actually a Chatbot they’re talking to. Most users still can’t tell that Chatbots exist so it might lead to confusion. Make sure to state since the beginning that the user is chatting with a robot. Setting up the right expectation upfront is crucial.
Sometimes, what the chatbot does isn’t what a customer needs. Your robot must help the user solve a problem. It must facilitate the process of buying a product, subscribe to a service or receives extraordinary customer care. But sometimes it won’t be able to do what the user intends it to do. It will do whatever you programmed it to do. So if things fail, it’s your programming you should be assessing.
