THIS WEEK: Beyond What You Can Bear | Luke 2:1-11
NEW Live IT Episode and Gathering Guide
Beyond what you can bear.

He left the orphanage at age 5 to escape abuse. He survived on the streets. Homeless. Just an ordinary looking man. View this week's Live IT Episode. Discover the extraordinary in your ordinary.

So many stories from so many people over the past days.

A young mother and just had another seizure. A middle-aged man grieving the weight of abortion from high school. Many couples struggling in their marriages. Newly married man who just discovered he has only a few weeks to live.

Add the international scene. Terror. Refugees. Poverty. So many right now experiencing such weight. Of course, words come so easy. We hurt with them. We want to bear it with them. Can we?

Nothing surpasses presence. His presence. Real Presence.

At every Mass He speaks to us: "This is my body... broken for you." It should strike us that this Body broken is called Holy Communion. Brokenness has everything to do with our union. That's you and me... and everyone else. It should strike us that the all-powerful God didn't simply allow brokenness, He chose it. It should strike us that Divine Mercy flows from brokenness.

The degree to which we don't get the broken is the degree to which we won't get the blessing.

If you are experiencing suffering right now, know that God's anointing is upon you. Broken is His means of blessing. His means of love out-poured to the world. His means of detaching us from our control, self-reliance, comfort-- an open Door for His Grace to flood our lives and into our world. We are never closer to God or others than in our suffering. (Quotes from Saints)

Be what you are. A wounded healer. Be an Icon of Mercy.

See the example in this Sunday's Gospel. They're in need beyond their means. They go to the Blessed Mother. She directs them to Jesus: "Do whatever He tells you." He instructs them to bring what they have, ordinary, empty vessels they fill with ordinary water.

And He transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary.

This is what He desires to do with us. This is the purpose of our human existence. This is discipleship. This is our destiny.

Don't wait for this Sunday. Hear Our Lady's words to you. Bring your empty, ordinary vessel to Him right now. See what He will do. He will transform you. That weight you've been carrying alone, He will take up as His own. Let Him. Let's let Him. Together. Holy Community proclaiming Holy Communion.
