| LIVE IT THIS WEEK | Luke 23:35-43
From Greg Schlueter: The lingering clouds from this election reveal something symptomatic of our culture. Perhaps even our own souls. We're so inclined to take sides. To point fingers. To be assured of our righteousness. Without diminishing in the slightest that there is an objective right and wrong, the challenge remains: Are we seeing things through God's eyes?
History
pronounces that God can use very flawed men to transform nations for
His greater glory; and He can use the likes of misguided protestors/rioters to
be His molding hand.
I'm reminded of Gandalf's words to Frodo: "Do not be too eager to
deal out death in judgment. Even the very wise cannot see all ends. My
heart tells me that Gollum has some part to play yet, for good or ill,
before this is over. The pity of Bilbo may rule the fate of many."
In the Gospel this Sunday we're taken to the cross. Jesus is dying. We have a pharisee and a thief. And we're invited to consider the defining quality of righteousness: Knowing we are not. Let us be counted among the wise men and women on the road of discipleship. Above our own sense of righteousness, let us seek Him.

| ALWAYS GIVE WITNESS | Rev. 12:11
BY BARBARA HANKENHOF: I have been very blessed by Jesus Christ through the love and support I have received during my Core Mission retreat and core team experience. [Core Mission is a person, family and parish building movement in parishes. See the end here for more details.]
Beginning with the retreat, I was blown away by the affirmations I received. It was then that I realized the difference that our team could make for others by inspiring them. As our team continued to meet, it became very evident that the Holy Spirit was working among us. I witnessed spiritual and physical healing (in others and myself), people developing strength and leadership by saying yes to the whispers of the Holy Spirit in their heart. I experienced forgiveness, love, support and kindness.
This team has become my second family.
I have also learned the importance of recognizing the devil's voice and actions (yes, he is hard at work!) The devil has a way of using our individual weaknesses against us. I have learned to renounce doubt from the devil as he tries to prevent us from sharing what God wants for each of us and our fellow parishioners… and that is a closer relationship with Jesus, experiencing His love on a much deeper and more intimate level. I have learned to stand strong despite these attempts, because I know in my heart and feel it in my gut that THIS is the right thing to do!
With regard to our LIT groups, God has a way of bringing the people together who need to be there. I have had some profound experiences of sharing in my small group meetings.
Thank you all for being a part of my life. I am so blessed by each and every one of you and the support you have given me! ---------------------------- Barbara Hankenhof is a leader of the Core Mission team at Most Blessed Sacrament.
