SARAH'S STORY: "I'M NEVER GOING BACK"
We are surrounded by many good, Catholic families - wonderful people actively engaged in their faith, who participate in mass and many faith opportunities. Their children shine in school and extracurricular activities, but when it comes to them owning an authentic, vibrant faith, many say "something's missing."
That's what Bill Noltner shared about his daughter, Sarah, at our Kingdom Builders Banquet... before "something" changed: As a young girl she attended Catholic grade school... was generally immersed in Catholic culture. As a high school teenager she was very popular among her fellow students... editor and chief of the school year book, varsity cheerleader, class representative, homecoming court... the quintessential American teenage girl.
[However] In those seemingly blissful years Sarah was facing a massive onslaught of counter Christian culture, philosophy and ideals which challenged everything she thought to be true. She wanted to fit in with her peers, so she adopted a sort of one-foot in, one-foot out approach to her faith.
As parents Lori and I thought we were doing all the right things, but the one thing we missed was the most important thing: we had not been praying together. As much as I thought I knew about my faith the biggest hole in my game as the leader of my family was lack of knowing how to pray with my wife and with my family. Because I didn't know how to do it, I avoided it.
Some of us realize there's a problem but feel helpless to do anything about it. We may have a good personal prayer life but that doesn't translate into a prayer life with your spouse or family. Think about how your relationship with your family would be different if you were praying together on a regular basis! How much more intimate those relationships would be!
Perhaps we just lack the tools. This is where Mass Impact's Live IT Gatherings and Gathering Guides have made a difference in our lives. Live IT makes intentional prayer happen among kids, teenagers, friends, spouses and families. It is one of the many kingdom building tools made available through Mass Impact.
It was a Live IT teen gathering that opened Sarah's eyes. She was exposed to teens just like herself who were seeking answers and discovering Christ through friendship and prayer. Through Live IT she found a whole new group of friends who wanted nothing more than to gather, have fun and grow together as disciples of Christ.
To say that Live IT has profoundly influenced Sarah is an understatement.
View Sarah's very moving, short testimonial. (GO) She is now in the midst of a two-year term as a missionary with Damascus (Catholic Youth Summer Camp), impacting many young people. You can hear Bill's impactful, short message at IGNITERadioLive.com along with inspiring messages from Bishop Daniel Thomas, Justin Fatica and others (PODCAST Episode 154, Bill's message begins around the 20:20 mark).
This is what Jesus does. This is what He wants to do for us. What are we waiting for?

THE PURPOSE AND POWER OF POLITICS
"Recently someone inquired why I have, at times, prefaced affirmation of President Trump with, 'Though I’m not a flag-waving Trump supporter….' The presumption may be that I’m patronizing a critical public without sufficient reason. The transparent truth: I have an overarching concern that our current political atmosphere is toxic; our shared humanity is being sliced up by a pendulum swinging back and forth, the uncritical action and reaction between blind Trump followers and blind Trump detractors."
