| OUR INCREDIBLE FATHER
Embracing Brokenness: The Journey to Wholeness
The older I get the more I realize that no matter how old you are, what life has handed you, how much you've made, what status you've attained, what you've accomplished, how mature or spiritual you've become... God continues to illuminate (uniquely in each of us) particularly fragile, incomplete, insecure, splintered, broken parts of ourselves. One after the other. At times, surprising and even frustrating us. Something we never thought was there.
HERE'S THE THING. Though God has won the battle, there remains within each of us little pieces of land which we've been clinging to with white knuckles. Appetites. Inclinations. Passions. Control. Pride. Idolatry. Gifts. Money. Strategies. Plans. Family. Friends. World. Thinking we can manage better. Thus, occasions of skirmishes.
WITH UNSURPASSED LOVE and desire for total intimacy, God's illumination awakens us to these. Through life, one after the other. We experience insecurity. The searing. The fragility. Whatever you want to call it.
PLEASE HEAR THIS: It will not go away or be fixed by any amount running, hiding, pretending, playing games, purchasing, negotiating or anesthetizing.
AS YOU ARE NOW SITTING HERE WITH YOUR LATEST, as I am with mine, know this is none other than Your Father's Hand reaching in... Him Who illuminates the unconquered territory in manageable stages, so that we more completely surrender to Him Who fashioned us of great poverty so He Himself can be our provision. So we can fully become what we are. Whole. Holy. In Him. Forever.
THIS EXPERIENCE spoken of by saints throughout the ages, of being more and more attuned to the heart of our Father and being conquered in stages, is a sacred summons from His Heart, an occasion of healing, restoration, and wholeness. The only occasion for our fulfillment of our deepest aspirations for intimacy with Him, and in Him, with all others.
THANK YOU DEAR FATHER IN HEAVEN!
