| | PERSONAL PROFILE: MEGAN MALCZEWSKI
SHORT FAMILY PROTRAIT: Steve and I married on August 25, 2001 and we have 2 daughters Elle (age 16) junior at Notre Dame Academy and Morgan (age 12) sixth grade at St. Joseph Maumee. We attend St. Joseph Maumee Church and I enjoy coaching CYO sports and helping Children’s Liturgy of the Word.
What is your business and what do you love most about it? I specialize in selling and leasing Commercial Real Estate in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan (Signature Associates). I am passionate about helping clients grow their real estate portfolios and their businesses. I am just as passionate about helping clients fill vacancies and sell properties. Nothing is more rewarding than helping others accomplish their goals. I am an independent contractor and therefore my work hours can be flexible and therefore I have the freedom to focus on my work and be present for my girls sporting events and family activities.
How did you get into your business? I was inspired at the age of 16 by a family friend who owned a real estate firm. I obtained my real estate license in college at BGSU and following graduation began selling and leasing commercial real estate at Signature Associates. I am very proud to be working at my first place of employment following college.
Favorite music: I am easy going and like everything however I find myself listening to the music my kids play. However, nothing is better than a good 80’s or 90’s tune but my kids totally disagree!
Favorite family movie and television show: My favorite movie is Mrs. Doubtfire and my favorite family show is America’s Funniest Home Videos.
Where you'd go on a dream vacation: New Zealand
Craziest goal you've set and accomplished: Last year I completed my first half Ironman (70.3) in Delaware, Ohio. It was an amazing race and test of personal strength.
Books that have made a difference in your life: I love to read and to listen to books on tape. So many books are impactful but I really enjoy Matthew Kelly books.
Something difficult in life that made you a better person today: Last year my husband Steve was in the hospital 3 times for over a week during each visit, the last time was over Christmas and New Year’s. For a very short visit on Christmas day, our girls got to hug their dad in the hospital and spend a little time with him. He underwent a long, painful surgery and recovery but is doing amazingly well today. Helping him through that difficult time was such a test of faith. The outpouring of love and support from family and friends changed my life. Although everyone is busy with their day people took the time to check in and pray for us. I will forever pay that forward!
Some of the best advice you've been given you seek to follow today: "Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken."
Source of great inspiration in your life: My parents are a huge source of inspiration. They both have a tireless work ethic and even during the most difficult times never made me feel troubled or worried. I try every day to emulate their passion for hard work and self-belief with the hope to inspire our children as they did me.
Short story of owning your Catholic faith: I converted to Catholicism after meeting my husband Steve in college. I actually converted before we married and our engagement. It just felt right to me. I always wanted to be Catholic and I was just waiting for the opportunity. My mother-in-law always said how she loved being Catholic which I didn’t fully appreciate back them. Now, I say that very same statement, “I love being Catholic!” I attended my first CRHP retreat at St. Joseph Maumee several years ago and the experience was amazing. I feel so deeply connected to our church and our faith community.
Favorite scripture passage or quote: Pray as though everything depended on God, act as though everything depended on me. Short story of how you met your spouse: I met Steve through a mutual friend. On my 21st birthday I was lucky enough to meet Steve as I had only seen him from afar up until that point. I literally went home after meeting him and told my parents I met the man I was going to marry. They asked where did I meet him of which I replied a bar…and the rest is history! Steve would go without to help others. I am very blessed to be his wife as well as his best friend.
