| GOLDEN NUGGETS FROM
THE MATT WALSH SHOW
It's time we take the gloves off.
This week we're showcasing a recent Matt Walsh podcast. Because we're in a wilderness. We've never been in greater need of guidance. As Sr. Lucia of Fatima predicted, this wilderness is marked by an attack on marriage and family. We see it in institutionalized gender confusion. Pornographic "drag your kids to pride" events. Transgender indoctrination in schools. Parents being denied rights in "gender reassignment" surgeries of their younger children.
There ought not be any surprises here. One political party completely embodies this vision of the human person. Joined by most economic, entertainment, news, and cultural elites. Their doctrine is completely built upon the false premise that truth is something we can create, not Someone in Whom we are created. Many of whom do so in the name of God. In the name of "Catholic."
They hold high the highest virtue of "tolerance," all the while failing to recognize that tolerance of false and evil is intolerance of truth and good. They can't have it both ways. How can this not leave one in extraordinary confusion. Discord.
The inevitable consequence is great depression. What happens when we deny God-designed nature and nature's God. When we presume to be God. Punctuated by a 300% increase in suicide for pre-teen/teen children over the past fifteen years. How is any kind of toleration of this love?
It's an unpopular risk for us to pivot in this direction. But it isn't an option. We profess Jesus Christ. We intimately become one with Him in Holy Communion. He is our identity. Our mission.
Christians recognize this life is but a grain of sand on an endless seashore. We recognize that what we do with this one grain -- our gifts, engagements, money, time, energy, words -- determines how we'll spend all the rest. Christians stand up amidst every travail and recognize we "were made for this." (St. Joan of Arc)
Christians don't hide. Christians don't side step. Christians don't medicate.
Christians recognize that Satan would have us be that proverbial frog in cold water slowly being heated. Each moment of misguided tolerance, ceding to ever-greater evil. Ever greater danger. Ever greater destruction. For us and for future generations. Christians recognize that all it takes for evil to exist is for good men and women to do nothing. (Edmund Burke)
To be better informed, to understand the state of the Kingdom that we might better respond, in addition to podcasts by the likes of Ralph Martin, Peter Herbeck, Scott Hahn, Daniel O'Connor, Jordan B. Peterson and others... we've been particularly blessed by the principled clarity and integrity of Daily Wire Catholics Michael Knowles and Matt Walsh.
Last week we invited friends to view Matt Walsh's "What Is A Woman?" documentary. (GO) For anyone desiring to connect with the real moral pulse driving culture, it's a must see. It's an honest, sobering portrait of the maligned sensibility not simply driven by a few, out-of-touch radicals, but increasingly by elites in shaping public policy.
Here are simply a few golden nuggets from one episode of the Matt Walsh Show. (GO)
- Expectation of MLB players to brandish a rainbow patch is like expecting your next door Jewish neighbor to have a blow up Santa on his front yard on Christmas.
- Kaepernick. You can disrespect the symbol if it's the flag, but not the rainbow patch.
- The trajectory is clear. Tolerate > Accept > Celebrate > Participate. If you tolerate, the sheer momentum is going to drive you to participation.
- The trajectory of social adaptation is also clear: It's happening > It's good > It's mandated.
- Learn to say "No." Say it loud. Say it clear. Say it often.
For my and our part, we're not out to win any popularity contests. We're deeply moved by God's desire for every person to know and live for Him. As God has put air in our lungs and capacities to live, proclaim and support others doing the same, we will keep doing it. Most notably, these "Ten Measures of a Healthy American Soul" (full article):
(1) If truth is whatever anyone wants it to mean, it means everything. Which is to say, nothing. Anything goes. All morals are absurd. Notions of "female," "male," "marriage," and "human life" are meaningless.
(2) It's impossible not to judge. To disagree is to prove my point.
(3) If you tolerate falsehood and the bad, you are intolerant of truth and the good. You can't have it both ways.
(4) Respect for another's conscience does not mean to abandon your own.
(5) We cannot break the moral law; we can only break ourselves against it. (Cecil B DeMille)
(6) Babble, Lot, Sodom and Gomorrah was not just a historical account. (Gen. 19)
(7) Not to speak is to speak. Not to act as to act. God will hold us accountable. (Dietrich Bonhoeffer)
(8) We can't create truth. Truth created us.
(9) The only orientation that matters is the one we all share: from sin to salvation in Jesus Christ.
(10) Marriage and family are God's image to the world. The cornerstone of civilization. The future of humanity passes by way of the family. (St. John Paul II)
