CHRISTMAS MIRACLE

I had just given birth to our fifth child, ending a smooth and uncomplicated pregnancy. Three weeks after delivery, I began to have concerning symptoms such as a racing heart rate, low oxygen saturation, and difficulty breathing while laying flat. I was encouraged by my OB/GYN to visit the ER. After hours in the ER and numerous tests, we were told that my blood pressure was very high and that I had begun to lose heart function.

I was admitted to the hospital where I spent a week undergoing various interventions. This quickly became a time of uncertainty and worry for the future of myself and our family. I was released from the hospital with a slew of medications and was told that my heart function may or may not return to normal and that we would have to wait and see.

My amazing husband began praying over me once we returned home. One evening as my husband was praying over me, asking for healing for my heart, I felt so strongly the Lord saying the words "I will." I remind myself of these words every day, remembering that our Lord's timing is always perfect.

Then, a few weeks ago, during an evening of adoration at Presence for Christmas, I was blessed to be prayed over again by my family and dear friends. I could again feel so strongly the Lord's presence and desire to heal me. In the days and weeks since these prayer encounters, I have experienced healing that we were told may not happen. I have regained much of my heart function and my oxygen saturation has greatly improved. My doctors were able to reduce the dosage of blood pressure medication and my blood pressure is lower than it has been since this illness began. I can even exercise without growing exhausted!

This has been such a huge testament to the power of prayer and the importance of joining in prayer with others! The Lord wants to unite with us in prayer and wants to change our lives!

"Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor."

have been married 10 years with four living children, one lost at 9 months old, and three by miscarriage. They are parishioners at Holy Rosary Cathedral. Bobby works in the medical field as a strategic modality specialist assisting with service of X-ray and cath lab systems. Katie is a homeschooling mom.
