NEVER TWO MUCH by Tiffany K Crain

The year was 2009. I would have told you that I was a Christian. I went to church on Sundays and Wednesdays. I would have said that I had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and that He was my friend. It took an unplanned pregnancy and the man I thought I loved telling me the best choice was to end the life of our child, to really see how His ways are higher.
I read His word. I taught His word in Sunday school to children. I went out into the world to be His hands and feet on mission in schools in Haiti and shelters in Toledo. It felt good to gather in fellowship. It felt rewarding to do good works for those in need. Yet, I lived a segmented life. There were extensive places in my life where it seemed better in my limited insight to do things my way, rather than putting my faith and trust in Jesus for living life according to His Word and His way.
It took unplanned pregnancy for me to see that His ways are higher than mine. His guardrails are for protection. I had in fact been playing Lord over my life rather than submitting to His Lordship. I realized that I made a terrible Lord. It was time to lay my life down, pick up my cross and follow Him.
As I began the journey of motherhood I did so as a single mom, but never alone. In week twenty of my pregnancy I found out that I was not carrying one little girl as I had guessed, but two lively boys. The church rose up and helped fill the gaps any need was presented.
By God’s grace I was able to move into a home that was perfect for doing childcare, so I could stay home raising my sons and provide for them by taking care of other children. Things were often stretched thin but needs were always met.
In 2015 David Daleiden and The Center for Medical Progress released undercover videos of their group posing as stem cell researchers seeking to procure human body parts of aborted babies. I was disturbed to the core and knew I had to do something. I began volunteering with the Bowling Green Pregnancy center every other Friday where I learned to advocate for women and their children.
In 2016 I moved from volunteer to client service director. Seventy-five percent of our clients were Bowling Green State University students. The number one hurdle I kept hearing was how moms could parent while continuing their education. I started to look for an answer. I never expected to be used as the answer, but when you lay your life down God uses you in unexpected ways.
In 2017, what started as a burden to see someone start an organization to support student parents turned into conviction that I was the someone that just might be called. While wrestling with doubts, I was reminded just who I needed to keep my eyes fixed on to walk on water when called out, the author and perfecter of my faith. He opened the doors, orchestrated the team and has led us day by day to offer a beautiful haven to provide free Christ-centered childcare, early childhood education and a ministry to parents to point them to the Gospel each day of life lived together.
The Nest opened our doors in August of 2018 and has been serving parents since. (GO)
