We're getting ready for Pentecost. We were just about to interview Fr. Kevin Moebius on IGNITE Radio Live when his text came in: "Got called to do an anointing... [may be late]." Below is a transcript of the story he shared at the outset of our invigorating program airing tonight (8pm on Annunciation, or listen here now):
STEPHANIE: "Just saw your text about the anointing that you just did. Prayers for that soul and again, thanksgiving for the great gift of your priesthood! So Praise God!"
FR. KEVIN: "Well, praise God... she just died in my arms.”
GREG & STEPHANIE: "Oh my goodness. Wow. How beautiful. Tell us about that."
FR. KEVIN: "So she was there... I prayed over her and the Holy Spirit told me to say, 'On the cross, Jesus said, into your hands I commend my spirit.' And then I had her entire family gather around and pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit during the anointing. And I saw her breathing, just very, very lightly after the anointing. And right before the final prayer I said 'gather around' and we just prayed 'Come Holy Spirit. Come Holy Spirit. Come Holy Spirit.' And she passed."
GREG & STEPHANIE: "Wow! Talk about a happy holy death!"
FR. KEVIN: "I know! God is amazing!"
STEPHANIE: "And what a gift to the family also!"
FR. KEVIN: "Yeah. All in His time. I mean, you just prayed for a holy outpouring... we pray in baptism for the Holy Spirit to enter us to make our journey through everything we do in this life and then we pray for an outpouring to help give us the strength for what we need to journey through the next. They just packed her bags for her!"
