What is a StoryWalk®?

The Berlin-Peck Memorial Library is excited to launch our first StoryWalk®! It runs from October 19th-November 16th at the Berlin Veterans’ Memorial Park (see below). StoryWalks® combine literacy with physical activity, placing large, colorful book pages at regular intervals along a walking route, encouraging users to walk (or run or skip or hop) as they read the book and/or enjoy the pictures. Where is the StoryWalk®?

The StoryWalk® is located at the Berlin Veterans’ Memorial Park, across the street from the Municipal Transfer Station off of Massirio Drive. The StoryWalk® is just across the bridge on the opposite side of the park from Stop & Shop and parking is available on both the Stop & Shop side and a small lot directly off of Massirio Drive.

StoryWalk® Kick-Off at the Berlin Veterans’ Memorial Park

We’re kicking off our StoryWalk®! Author Linda Kranz uses gorgeous painted rocks in her illustrations for our StoryWalk® title You Be You. Drop in between 10:30 AM and 12 PM*, walk the StoryWalk® and create a painted rock to leave behind as a part of the story. It’s your chance to participate in a collaborative art project the whole community can enjoy!

*Weather permitting; rain date is Saturday, November 2.

How was the project funded?

The StoryWalk® is presented by the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library with the support of the Department of Economic and Community Development, Office of the Arts, which also receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.

The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library in Montpelier Vermont. StoryWalk® is a registered service mark owned by the Kellogg-Hubbard Library
