Library Director's Message

Hello August! The summer is flying by! It has been wonderful to see so many people in the building and attending our events over the past few months! I’m happy to report that our Summer Reading programs have been very successful. Almost 900 children, teens, and adults have signed up so far, and thousands of books have been read since mid-June! It is our hope that our Summer Reading programs instill a lifelong love of reading for all who participate. Remember, we are always here for you if you need book recommendations!

We have an exciting new change coming to our adult department this fall. We are going to be changing the way we organize our non-fiction books to a more user-friendly system. This will make it easier for you to browse and find non-fiction books. You can read more about “The Pecking Order” here. This project has been years in the making, and we are really looking forward to making it a reality!

Lastly, I’d like to give you a sneak peek at a new initiative we will be rolling out in a few months in conjunction with Berlin Schools, Berlin Social Services, and the Berlin Police Department. We plan to hold book discussions, programs and community conversations around the book The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness. This thought-provoking book has been on the New York Times Bestseller list for 17 weeks and is sure to generate a lot of discussion. Stay tuned for more details.

I value your feedback and invite you to visit, arrange a personal library tour, or reach out via email to get in touch.

Thank you for being part of our vibrant library community!
