to Host Training on Effective and Ethical Practices for Counselors,
Pastors and Faith-Based Professionals to Help Those Struggling with
Sexuality WASHINGTON, D.C.—As the rights of minors seeking licensed therapy for unwanted sexual attractions come under fire, the International Healing Foundation (IHF, www.comingoutloved.com) is hosting a Counselor Training Program
on May 19-21 in the Washington, DC metro area for counselors,
therapists, ministers and faith-based professionals who work with those
conflicted with sexuality and sexual orientation issues, and their loved
ones.
“As
a licensed therapist and former homosexual, I know that sexuality and
sexual orientation are complicated issues to address, and unfortunately,
not all counselors have benefited from specific training to help
clients that are struggling to find answers,” said IHF Director
Christopher Doyle. “But there are a variety of solutions for the diverse
struggles of those experiencing conflicts around sexuality and sexual
orientation, and as our society is moving towards polarization of these
issues, IHF’s training will equip counselors and therapists to help
those struggling—as well as their family members—find a loving
solution.”
Facilitating the training along with Doyle will be IHF founder Richard Cohen, M.A., who has led counselor training programs for 20 years around the world. IHF’s groundbreaking
program has been offered to thousands of therapists, ministry leaders,
coaches and clergy throughout the United States, Latin America and
Europe.
The
three-day event offers two levels of training and certification. Level
I, offered May 19-20, will provide a four-stage model of healing, with
practical solutions for those struggling with sexuality and sexual
orientation issues. Level I also offers 12 action-orientated principles
for family and friends, along with real stories of transformation from
those who have experienced conflicts around sexual orientation and
sexuality.
Level
II, offered May 21, offers advanced training in practical and
successful therapeutic skills and interventions, also known as
“experiential processing.” This intensive one-day seminar will equip
attendees with tools and techniques to help individuals, couples and
families experience major breakthrough and greater love in their lives.
Costs
and registration packages are available for Level I, Level II or both.
The training event will be held at the First Baptist Church of
Glenarden, 3600 Brightseat Road, in Landover, Md. For more information,
call (301) 805-6111 or email IHFinfo@comingoutloved.com. ###
